Drifters (Tántorgók) by the Fitos Dezső Dance Company is a 75-minute contemporary dance-theater production performed by nine male dancers. Rooted in Hungarian and Eastern European folk traditions, the work blends folk dance, live music, theatrical movement, and striking stage imagery to explore themes of migration, memory, resilience, and the search for belonging. Set against a historically inspired backdrop and performed in period-influenced costumes, Drifters evokes the physical and emotional realities of departure, labor, displacement, and hope. Rather than presenting folk traditions as artifacts of the past, the production reimagines them as a contemporary theatrical language that resonates with audiences across cultures and generations.

Founded in 2007 by choreographer Fitos Dezső and co-artistic director Kocsis Enikő, the Fitos Dezső Dance Company is one of Hungary's leading contemporary folk dance ensembles. Renowned for transforming the traditions of the Carpathian Basin into powerful theatrical experiences, the company blends cultural heritage with innovative choreography to tell stories that resonate across generations. Drifters continues this legacy, exploring migration, memory, and the search for belonging through dance.

The performance runs 2 hours and 15 minutes. There is no intermission.

The majority of the performance is in English with select songs and portions performed in Hungarian.

This performance is suitable for all ages.

Doors open at 6:30 PM, please plan to be in your seats by 7:25PM. Latecomers are only admitted if there is a suitable break during the performance.
